Darlene G. Denison, 98, passed away March 23, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 4, 2025, at the Anchor Bible Church in Center Point, Iowa. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon following. Burial will be a private ceremony at a later date.

She was born on April 10, 1926, the daughter of Harold and Gail Watts. Darlene was a graduate of Deep River School, Class of 1943. Prior to marriage she lived and worked as a cashier at the MeToo Grocery Store in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

On June 1, 1945 she was united in marriage to Leo (Dean) Denison in San Francisco, California. The couple farmed in rural Center Point where Darlene was a homemaker and mother. To this union four children were born, and she is lovingly remembered by three sons and a daughter. Richard (Cherryl) Denison and Robert (Judy-deceased in 2024) Denison of Cedar Rapids, Alan (Pam) Denison of Urbana and Diana (Tom) Neenan of Center Point and Darlene’s grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Darlene worked as a cook at the Center Point School for 14 years. She was a member of the Center Point United Methodist Church, where she served as a UMW member for many years and helped provide a lot of potato salad and raisin bars. She loved fishing in Minnesota, playing cards with friends and crossword puzzles. She was involved in the Lioness Club and with her husband were very active in the Lions Club. Darlene volunteered her time at the St Lukes Hospital.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband in 2002, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Oldorf Hospice House for the loving care that was provided during her stay.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Anchor Bible Church or the Oldorf Hospice House.
