Danny Ray (Dano) Emmert, 46, of Atkins, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, September 16, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, following a long battle with brain cancer and complications of leukemia. Services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Rick Gail. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife of twenty years, Kathy; three children, Brian (Tami) Armstrong of Cedar Rapids, Brett (Barbie) Armstrong of Alburnett, and Jeremy Emmert of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Sandra Emmert of Marion; and grandchildren, Gabrielle, Joshua, Tayler, Jacob, and a grandchild due in March.

Also surviving are two sisters, Deb (Dennis) McMillan of Scott City, Missouri, and Dawn (John) Hall of Marion; and aunts and uncles, Larry Bamsey of Plano, Texas, Linda (Tari) Dailey of Cedar Rapids, Paula (Dave) Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Garland Bamsey of Cedar Rapids, Delores (Clarence) Sullivan of Monticello, and Larry (Denise) Emmert of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom; an uncle, Keith Bamsey; and an aunt, Pat Baker.

Danny was born February 18, 1961, the son of Tom and Sandra (Bamsey) Emmert in Manchester. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1979. On April 11, 1987, he married Kathy Armstrong. Danny worked as a bus driver for the city of Cedar Rapids for over twenty years, retiring in 2001. Danny attended First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed the Redskins, Cubs, and Hawkeyes. Danny loved riding his Harley and enjoyed group campouts and meeting with “The Committee”.
