Danny Coblentz, 66, a resident of Living Center West, formerly of Marion and Shellsburg, died Friday, June 3, 2005, in Mercy Medical Center, following an extended illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Linda Livingston. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Friends may call Monday, June 6, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of forty-eighty years, Joyce; a daughter, Selina (Bill) Huckins of Cedar Rapids; a son, Timothy (Tanya) Coblentz of Shellsburg; a stepmother, Geri Coblentz of Tiffin; five sisters, Katie (Chester) Miller of Central City, Dorothy (Harold) Vesley of Iowa City, Helen Coblentz of Coralville, Arlene "Buzz? Coblentz of Riverside and Shirley Gilbert of Indiana; and two brothers, Dwayne Coblentz of Tiffin and Everett Coblentz of Iowa City.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Brad, Kristy, Tony, Trey and Tate; three great-grandchildren, Chase, Jaxon and Marco; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Coblentz, brothers, Ralph, Amos and Lloyd, sisters, Esther, Mary Ellen and Viola in infancy.
Danny was born the son of Christ and Edna (Thomas) Coblentz on June 14, 1938, in Hudson, Kansas. On November 24, 1956, in Marion he was united in marriage to Joyce Henderson. Danny worked at Century Engineering in Cedar Rapids for fifteen years, until his retirement.
Danny enjoyed camping, fishing and playing the guitar and harmonica. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids, and also to tinker and fix things.
Danny was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.
A memorial fund has been established in Danny?s memory.
