Danne Lee Bennington, 66, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, in the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, in Iowa City following a short illness. Family and friends are invited to a gathering at Don and Bonnie’s; Saturday, May 16, at 1:00 p.m. Inquire at 319 369-0764.
Survivors include his children, Scott Bennington of Oelwein, Bonnie (Don) Grommon of Cedar Rapids, Terry (Priscilla) Bennington of Oelwein and Richard (Amber) Bennington of Sheldon; four grandchildren, Brian, Jesse, Cody and Zach; one great grandchild, Haley Lynn; and a sister, Joann (Ray) Batchelder of Central City.
Danne was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents; grandson, Isiah; and a brother, Keith Bennington.
Born August 29, 1942, in Volga, Iowa, Danne was the son of Richard and Maxine (Odekirk) Bennington. He served in the U.S. Navy. On May 23, 1964, he was united in marriage to Carol Shepherd. He was a retired having worked as a welder for many years.
Danne was an outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting.
A memorial fund has been established.
