Daniel Howard Kimball, 73, of New Caney, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died January 9, 2021, in Houston, Texas. Graveside services at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Face coverings and social distancing is required. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Daniel was born on August 10, 1947, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Henry & Gayle (Johnson) Kimball, Jr. He attended school at Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids. He was married to Christine Black for 10 years. Then later Daniel married the love of his life, Colleen Dolan in Cedar Rapids. Daniel worked for Quaker Oats Company, Cedar Rapids, for 30+ years. Daniel enjoyed fishing, drawing wildlife, making wood and wax models, and refinishing wood furniture. He was known for his artistic talent and an infectious laugh.
Daniel is survived by his seven children, Lisa (Jose) Betancourt of Porter, Texas, Cory (David) Carter of New Caney, Texas, Cheral (John) Barnett of Conroe, Texas, Shawn (Leah) Kimball of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, James Kimball of Cedar Rapids, Chad (Jennifer) Marion of Fairfax, Iowa, and Tina (Loc) Martindale of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Doug (Margie) Kimball of Cedar Rapids, Mike Kimball of Cedar Rapids, and Dennis (Roxanne) Andrews of Lisbon, Iowa; sisters, Darlean Zbanek of Denver, Colorado, and Robin Albers of Cedar Rapids; step-mother, Shirley Kimball (Kermit) of Cedar Rapids.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Kimball, Jr. and Gayle Johnson; his wife, Colleen Kimball; son, Christopher Kimball; a great-granddaughter, Lilly Schladetzky; brother, David Zbanek and a sister, Tracy L. Kimball.
