Daniel, “Dan”, Keith Lindsey was born to Roger and Linda Lindsey February 25, 1969. He was followed by a younger brother, Roger and several step siblings. Dan graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids in 1987.
Dan’s greatest loves were his wife of 29 years, Jean, their boys Dustin (Ashton), and Blake closely followed by his love for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Dustin and Blake will always remember Dan as the Dad who took every opportunity to let them know he loved them whether it was bringing a snack home from the Corner Store, organizing and coaching a traveling team so they could play on one, taking them to games, fishing or golfing, or showing up whenever they needed him. Personal hobbies included experimenting with recipes, collecting sports cards, listening to music which included finding new artists to listen to, watching his sports teams, throwing frisbee with his yellow lab, Dak and watching TV with their lab/shepherd mix Ziva. Together with Jean, Dan also loved exploring new places, taking day trips locally, summer vacations around the country, and last December taking one of their bucket list trips to Germany for the Christkindlesmarkts. Dan was lucky to work with many wonderful people he considered friends at Joensy’s Center Point and Marion High School. Dan was a man with a big personality who had a friendly word for everyone he saw. He was always willing to help someone who needed it the best he could and never asked for anything in return. He was a hard worker, and sometimes hard-headed, but he always stood up for what he believed in. Dan was known within the family for being the expert deviled egg maker, but one thing Dan was not, was the spider killer of the family, leaving that distinction to Jean. Dan will be greatly missed by all who knew him but they are comforted knowing he was met at the gates to Heaven by his father-in-law Wayne Columbus and his beloved fur-kids Koda, Dallas, and Spunky.
Dan loved celebrating Christmas from outdoor light displays to finding the perfect gift for everyone. He enjoyed shopping for others that needed help providing gifts for children. To honor his love of the holiday and helping others in lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to Waypoint Winter Wonderland in Dan’s name. Waypoint Winter Wonderland is a celebration that provides holiday gifts to families served at Waypoint who are experiencing homelessness or poverty.
Services will be held at Murdoch Funeral Home, Center Point, on Friday, July 14, 2023. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m., followed by a funeral service.
