Daniel J. Boston, 54, of 3114 Vista Rd, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 17, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005, at St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church, by Father Thomas McDermott. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Vigil Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his children, Danielle Boston and Andrew (Cindy) Boston, both of Cedar Rapids; a granddog, Cody; five sisters, Maureen (Rick) Boots of Lisbon, Diane (Gary) Novak of Solon, Marietta (Brian) Sippy of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Teresa (Dave Crumley) Linn of Cedar Rapids and Elizabeth (Merritt) Robertson of Central City; and three brothers, Bill (Stacy) Boston of Cape Coral, Florida, Francis (Stacy) Boston of Cedar Rapids and Ben Boston of Altoona.
Also surviving include his mother-in-law, Kathleen Hobson of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Lillian (Harlan) Sailor of Cedar Rapids; two brothers-in-law, Tom (Rhonda) Hobson of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Rick (Pat) Hobson of Cedar Rapids; two aunts, Mary Panek of Lisbon and Rose Marie Kopernik of Marion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Jamie Hobson; an aunt, Maxine Slater; three uncles, Joe Panek, Joe Slater, and Henry "Hank? Kopernik, a niece, Samatha Hobson; and his father-in-law, Tom Hobson.
Daniel was born September 25, 1950, the son of William and Mary Magdaline (Panek) Boston, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served with the 101st Army Airborne during the Vietnam War. On August 19, 1972, Dan was united in marriage to Barbara Hobson in Cedar Rapids. For 32 years, he worked for Justice Electric. Dan enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, dancing and raising animals. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends who were very important in his life.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Dan.
