Dale Wendt, 81 of 1630 Timberland Ct. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, by Pastor David Bissell. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; his children, Dennis (Sue) Wendt of Cedar Rapids, Thomas (Tina) Wendt of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Timothy (Christine) Wendt, Dustin (Casey) Wendt, both of Cedar Rapids and Dodie (Mike) Tedesco of Independence; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ada Downs of Ames.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Al, Ray, Jim and Warner; and a sister, Izetta Lutzen.
Dale was born July 8, 1927, the son of George and Lula (Crawford) Wendt, in Harris, Missouri. He served in the United States Army. On August 1, 1966, he was united in marriage to Ann Phelps in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dale was a carpenter for over 50 years and owned Wendt Construction.
Dale was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the United States Army “White Coats” and Scout Master Troop #29.
