Dale Charles Wendt, 92, of Delaware died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, March 4, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Delaware by Rev. Donald Krause. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville, additional visitation one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Burial will be at the Pine View Cemetery, Delaware.
Dale was born on the family farm in Delhi Township, Delaware County on August 16, 1920, the son of Charles H. and Hilda L. (Gienapp) Wendt. He attended St. Paul's Parochial School and graduated from Delhi Consolidated in 1937. On December 26, 1944, Dale was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Milroy at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Delaware. He farmed with his family until moving into Delaware in 1988.
Dale enjoyed music, raising and riding quarter horses, fishing, hunting, traveling, and singing in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Quartet. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Silver Springs Co-op Board, and Manchester Riding Club. Dale enjoyed playing pranks, teasing and joking around with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
God granted Dale’s wishes to live at home - thanks to his great caregivers and visits from good friends until the last 10 days of his life.
Dale is survived by five children, Robert (Karen) Wendt of Manchester, Sheryl (Joe) Biondahl of Thor, David (Debra) Wendt of Delhi, Karl (Mary) Wendt of Hopkinton, and Evan (Diane) Wendt of Delhi; fifteen grandchildren, Sarah (Jamie) Gyolai, Noah (Erin) Wendt, Seth Wendt (Morgan Huff), Tiersa (Jeff) Frasher, Natalie (Chad) Mormann, Emily (Jeff) Domeyer, Ryan Wendt, Abbie (Nick) Thompson, Sheena Wendt, Aaron Wendt, Colin Wendt, Jennifer (Aran) Klosterman, Michael, Kelly, and Angie Wendt; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Zada Glew and numerous other relatives.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie in 2005; his parents, Charles in 1973 and Hilda in 1949; and two infant sons, Gary in 1945 and Neil in 1958..
