Dale L. "Sandy? Sandhagen, Sr. 68, of Manchester, Iowa, died Saturday, October 19, 2002, at the Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at the First Lutheran Church, Manchester, with Pastor Jean Rabary officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, and for one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Dundee, Iowa.

Dale was born April 6, 1934, in Oneida, Iowa, the son of Albert Robert & Leona Frances (Oaks) Sandhagen. He graduated from Oneida High School in 1952. Dale was employed by Bob Nall Chevrolet Car Dealership, Manchester, after graduating from high school. He entered the United States Army in 1956 serving as a truck driver and mechanic in Germany. After his discharged in 1958, Dale returned to work for Nall Chevrolet, later known as Bob Stephens Motors, until his retirement in 2000. On July 31, 1960, Dale was united in marriage to Judith Ann Downs at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Judith died in 1970.

Dale was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Manchester. He was a past member of the Eagles Club, and enjoyed the "Hardee?s Coffee Club.? An avid outdoorsman, Dale really enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was also a great fan of "Bluegrass Music? and thoroughly enjoyed going to concerts.

Dale is survived by a daughter, Debrea K. Schmidt of Manchester, and her special friend, John Enabnit; a son, Dale L. Sandhagen, Jr. of Florida; four grandchildren, Travis, Zach, Nicci, and Dustin Schmidt; a sister and her husband, Hilda & Burl Gibbs, of Manchester; and a brother-in-law, Robert Manternach of Manchester.

Dale is preceded by his parents, Albert R. & Leona F. Sandhagen; his wife, Judith Sandhagen; a special friend, Letha Garlow; a sister, Doris Manternach; and a brother, Vernon Sandhagen.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, or Hospice of Comfort, in honor of Dale.
