Dale L. McDaniel, 82, of 3320 G Ave. N.W. died Friday, April 29, 2005, in ManorCare Health Services in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his loving family. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at St. James United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Susan Detweiler and the Rev. Rollin Oswald. Burial: Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, with military honors. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; two sons, James L. (Barbara) McDaniel of Cedar Rapids and William L. McDaniel of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; two daughters, Jerri Jean (Mike) Hughes of Cedar Rapids and Cathy I. (Steve) Griffin of rural Center Point; and a daughter-in-law, Julia McDaniel. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clifford C. McDaniel; three brothers, Mearl, Clifford, Robert; two sisters, Arlene, Betty and his dog, Buddy.

Dale was born to William and Mabel (Barker) McDaniel on July 25, 1922 in Adair. On March 8, 1941, in Vinton he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Lucille Lenway. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. Dale was employed by Square D in Cedar Rapids as a tool and die maker, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
