Dale LaVern Heil, 92, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died June 28, 2015 at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Per Dale’s wishes there will be no services or visitation. His body has been donated to the University of Iowa for anatomical research.
Survivors include a son, Jerry (Barb) Heil of Port Angeles, Washington; a grandson, William Heil of Arkansas; a sister, Vesta Creasy of Houston, Texas; and a brother, John Heil of Denver, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Patricia in 2012; and five brothers and sisters.
Dale was born June 12, 1923, near Marshalltown, the son of Earnest and Edith (LaRue) Heil. He married Patricia Margaret Brhel on August 28, 1945. Dale served in the Army during World War II. He was employed by Rockwell.
Dale was active in the Volkswagen Club of America as well as the Sports Car Club of America. He was honored to be a part of the 2014 Honor Flight.
