Cynthia "Cindy? M. Chapman, 44, of 1513 Ottawa Dr., Marion, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005, in her home, surrounded by her family and friends, of renal cell cancer. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Beverly Thompson-Travis. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her parents, Woodrow and Sally Smith of Marion; her children, Nikki (Justin) Gerdes, Jessica Billmeyer, both of Cedar Rapids, Spencer Chapman and Amber Chapman, both of Marion; her grandmother, Bessie Hand of Marion; two grandchildren, Gavin and Griffin; her sisters, Lori (Jim) Cooper of Roswell, Georgia Tracy Smith of Allenton, Wisconsin; two nephews, Jay and Joshua Cooper; and special friends, Lisa Adams, Georgia Johnson and Audrey Savage.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles Hand, Guy Smith and Claudine Young.
Cindy was born August 30, 1961, the daughter of Woodrow and Sally (Hand) Smith, in Galesburg, Illinois. She moved to Monticello in 1977 and graduated from Monticello High School in 1979. Cindy worked for Citizen State Bank as a teller. Her greatest love was her family. A quote by Cindy, "My lifelong dream was to be a Mother and God granted me that Dream.?
