Curtis E. Stewart, 61, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Per Curtis’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Jordan’s Grove Cemetery on at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion is assisting the family.
Curt was born January 15, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Harold and Nancy (Thompson) Stewart. He graduated from Regis High School in 1978 and went on to graduate from the University of Iowa in 1982 with his Bachelors of Business Administration degree majoring in Finance and Marketing. Curt was an independent insurance agent operating Stewart Insurance Agency. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anamosa and a Mason. Curt was a member and past president of Rotary International, receiving a Paul Harris Fellowship. He was the campaign manager for Lee Hein’s successful Iowa 2010, 2012, and 2014 Legislative House elections. Curt treasured spending time with his beloved godchildren Michael and Nicole. Playing board games and boating together were their favorite activities. Watching Hawkeye games with longtime friend Mike Fox was also a favorite pastime. Curt enjoyed sport shooting and participating in National Congress of Old West Shootists (NCOWS). Curt spent every holiday at Mark and Bobbie Ball’s house with his godchildren and their extended family who will miss him very much.
He is survived by godchildren, Michael and Nicole Stocki of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Stephen (Dorothy) Stewart of Venice, Florida; and 3 nephews.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Curt's memory may be made to the Anamosa Masons or the Rotary Club of Anamosa.
