Curtis Lee Martens, 57, of 7105 Rockwood Drive S.W. Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Cedar Hills Community Church, 4908 Gordon Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Kent Landhuis and Dr. Rev. Leonard Ranson. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids and one hour prior to service at the church. Burial: 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington, Iowa, with military rites.

Survivors include his wife Dianne; two daughters, Tamera J. Ohrnstein of Cedar Rapids and April Ann Ogle and husband Jeffrey of St. Joseph, Illinois; his mother, Betty Jean Edaburn of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Brandon and Jessica Ohrnstein and Meaghan Ogle; four sisters, Debra Sirowy and husband Randy of Brighton, Colorado, Barbara Jean Koenen of Cedar Rapids, Connie Jo Trout and husband Terry of Center Point and Lori Ohlhauser and husband Kerry of Norway; his father-in-law, Edwin Meyer of Aplington; and a brother-in-law, Alan Meyer and wife Arlene of Aplington.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Vern Martens; his step-father, Charles Wilmer Edaburn; and his mother-in-law, Paulene Meyer.

Curtis was born August 2, 1947, in Waukon, Iowa, the son of Milton Vern and Betty Jean (Holly) Martens. On July 22, 1967, he married Dianne Kaye Meyer in Cedar Falls. He served in the U.S. Army and was a General Manager for Sears, retiring after 35 years. Curtis was a member of the Cedar Hills Community Church, Cedar Rapids and Big Brother Program and Rotary Club, both in Mattoon, Illinois. Curtis loved old cars and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, golfing, traveling and the outdoors.
