August 6th, 1963, was a joyous day for Nancy and Mike Scott when their daughter, Crystal Lynne Scott, was born at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Three years later, she became the "big sister" to Michael. She graduated from Center Point High School, in 1981 and from University of Dubuque, in 1985. Her desire to work and live in different places took her to Nevada, Mississippi, and Texas before coming back to Iowa.

Rescue dogs were near to her heart, as her furry friends, Bonanza, Tiago and Dion were both adopted from animal shelters. Bonanza was named after the high school where her Dad taught school; Tiago after one of the players on the San Antonio Spurs basketball team; Dion, after Celine Dion. Arf-arf or meows could always be heard from Crystal's home.

Crystal's love of art and painting was initiated by her Center Point art instructor, Mr. Butschi. She had a love of colorful landscapes, soft colors, textures and animals. Some of Crystal's favorite stories were her road trip to California with her cousins, Amy and Joey and her silver Camaro on high school graduation day and her most favorite story is when her Dad sat down at the dinner table one night and announced he really liked the new apricot shampoo, which was the dog’s shampoo.

Crystal joins many family members who have passed before her, most notably her Dad; Grandma and Grandpa Scott, Grandma and Grandpa Pribbenow, Uncle Larry, Uncle John and Cousin Rhonda.

Crystal's Dad paved her way when coping with terminal cancer. She remained strong, courageous and had the Grandma Scott contagious smile until the end. She told others "don't cry “and after the diagnosis on October 12, she said: "I didn't think it would be so soon."
March 29, 2017 was a sad day when Crystal returned to her birthplace, St. Luke's Hospital and died at the age of 53 of metastatic renal cell carcinoma. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, for her Iowa relatives and friends. Crystal will be later entombed in Las Vegas at her family's mausoleum at Palm Mortuary.

As William Cullen Bryant expressed: … “Approach thy grave, like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams.” Rest in peace sweet daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend.
Her request would be:” forget flowers for me”. Donations may be directed to your local animal shelter or St. Luke’s Hospice.
