Craig Frank Brockman, 70, of Amana, Iowa, died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by family after a 10-month battle with melanoma. The family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, for a Celebration of Life at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids.

Craig was born September 19, 1952, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Wendell and Jane (Bryngelson) Brockman. He graduated from Maine East Township High School in Des Plaines, Illinois. Craig was united in marriage to Bridget Mason on June 8, 1973, in Marshalltown, Iowa; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for International Paper Company - Cedar River Mill before retiring in 2018.

Craig was a man of many skills from carpentry, welding, pipe fitter, asphalt and concrete work, and mechanical skills. He owned a motorcycle when he and Bridget met and then moved on to cars, trucks, campers, boats, horses, and country living. Craig had many hobbies: hunting, fishing, horse training, riding, and loving nature and the outdoors. He spent many quality times with friends and family, hosting and organizing get-togethers in the country setting. Craig was a man of his word and was always a willing helper for anyone who asked. He was loved by many and loved his family and friends immensely.

Survivors include his wife, Bridget Brockman of Amana; daughter, Julie; son, Benjamin; grandchildren, McKenna Brockman, Corbin Brockman, and River Heneke; great-grandson, Kaisen Tigges; sisters, Christine (Joe) Cheek of Hartwell, Georgia, and Deb Danko of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brother, Curtis (Deb) Brockman of Wellsburg, Iowa; his outdoor companions, Maggie (dog) and Peppi (horse); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family.
