Constance “Connie” E. Wisely, 82, a resident of Silver Pines Assisted Living Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the past 2 years, and formerly of 609 27th Street N.E., Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 18, 2008, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Cedar Hills Evangelical Free Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Randy Scheil. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Rachel (Roy) DeWitt of Cedar Rapids; sons, Clement (Stacey) Wisely of Cedar Rapids, Philip (Maria) Wisely of Iowa City and Andrew (Lynn) Wisely of Hewitt, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Roy (Abbie) DeWitt, Ellen (Will) Rogan, Kristine DeWitt, JoAnn DeWitt, Jeremy Wisely, Nicole (Josh) Laughridge, Amanda Wisely, Aron Carrillo, Rebecca Wisely, Joshua Wisely, Anthony Wisely and Kendra Wisely; seven, going on ten, great grandchildren; and several cousins.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gale; brother, Norman C. Krapf who died during WWII; and a sister, Shirley L. Krapf.
Connie was born May 25, 1926, in Walker, Iowa, the daughter of Carl E. and Alice Jane (Wiley) Krapf. She graduated from Coe College in 1948. On June 21, 1952, she was united in marriage to Gale Wisely. He died January 2, 2005. Connie taught piano lessons from her home. She was a member of Cedar Hills Evangelical Free Church, where her greatest joy was teaching children about Jesus, leading Bible Clubs, the Women’s Bible study and Sunday School. She was also a member of Mu Phi Epsilon and active in Franklin High School and Coe College reunions. She often went to Franklin to talk to students about the past and participated in Rock and Read at Arthur school. Connie brightened many lives with her piano and marimba playing. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy.
