Cloyd "Sid? Sparrgrove, 100, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center, formerly of Center Point and Lamont, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at the care center. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside Committal Services: 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Campton Cemetery in rural Lamont, Iowa.

Survivors include two sons, Lyle (Ann) of Cedar Rapids and Dale (Pat) of Anamosa; four grandchildren, Craig (Barb) Sparrgrove of Phoenix, Arizona, Vicky Sparrgrove of Cedar Rapids, Brian Sparrgrove of Anamosa and Marcy (Brad) Wymer of Iowa City; and five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Shannon and Brody Sparrgrove and Jordan and Tanner Wymer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; a daughter, Eleanor; a son, Kenneth; six brothers, William, Frank, Charles, Archie, Lloyd and Jim; and a sister, Lucille Bennet.

Sid was born December 27, 1902, the son of John and Margaret (Houston) Sparrowgrove in rural Marengo. He married Florence Sanky on December 23, 1932. She died in 1973. Sid farmed in the Lamont and Quasqueton areas for many years. He then worked for Wilson Meat Packing Company, retiring in 1967. Sid was known for his love of horses, horse racing and for his good humor.
