Clifford W. Stankee, 75, of Coggon, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan by the Rev. Roger McKinstry. Burial: Wilson Cemetery in rural Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to service time.
Survivors include a son, Terry Stankee of Coggon; a brother, Don Stankee of LeClaire; and two sisters, Bonnie (Harold) Hensch of Tipton and Helen Whitmer of DeWitt.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Aaron Sherman of Walker and Sydney Stankee of Waukon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn and a sister.
Clifford was born the son of George and Emma (Peters) Stankee on Novemer 23, 1928, in Wheatland. In 1960 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Herman. She died in 1979. Clifford was a graduate of Coe College and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Rockwell-Collins for twenty-five years, retiring in 1989. Clifford was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan.
