Clifford Edward Fritz, 75, of Central City, died Thursday, August 26, 2004, at his home, following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City by Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Robinson; two daughters, Debbie Kammerman and Jennifer Fritz, both of Cedar Rapids; a son, Larry Fritz of Central City; two step-sons, David Robinson of Hazelton and Gregory (Jenn) Robinson of Memphis, Tennessee; a step-daughter, Kelley (Mike) Murray of Marion; thirteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brother, Dale (Bonnie) Fritz of Shiloh; five sisters, Gladys Dayton of Kalona, Lorrine Gilcrest of Washington, Marlene Fritz of Washington, Lidwell (Orville) Hart of Sarcramento, California and Betty (Don) Knutz of Brownsville, Texas; and several other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Marie Fritz; and two sisters, Darlene Gaines and Lucille Fritz.
Clifford was born August 11, 1929, the son of Lawrence and Anna (Weiger) Fritz in Wayland. On June 18, 1952, he married Mary Marie Gingerich. She died December 15, 1978. He married Virginia Robinson July 20, 2000, in Cedar Rapids. Clifford was a hobby farmer, a tree trimmer for Asplundh Tree Trimming Service, he worked on natural gas pipelines, escavating for several construction companies and owned/operated a wrecker service.
