Cletus J. Nachtman, 89, of Earlville, died on Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a short illness.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville by Rev. Herbert Tegeler. Friends may call from 2:00 until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville where there will be a Rosary Service at 4:00 p.m. and Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Earlville.
Cletus was born the son of Nicholas and Anna (Loser) Nachtman on June 12, 1915 in Dyersville. He attendedthe Brother?s School in Dyersville On November 17, 1937 Cletus was united in marriage to Elizabeth Heiring at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. The couple farmed near Dyersville before moving to farm in the Earlville area 58 years ago.
Cletus was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville. He belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters and Holy Name Society. Cletus enjoyed his family and loved to farm and trap.
Cletus is survived by four daughters, Rita Nachtman of Earlville, Julie (Bob) Wessel, Dorothy (Leo) Roling, and Betty (Gene) Kruse, all of Colesburg; two sons, Francis Nachtman and John (Charlotte) Nachtman, both of Earlville; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marcella Deutmeyer of Dyersville.
Cletus was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas & Anna Nachtman; his wife, Elizabeth Nachtman; a daughter, Mary Murray; a brother, Edmund Nachtman; brother-in-law, Albert Deutmeyer; and son-in-law, Bob Murray.
