Claudia M. Berry, 94, formerly of Alburnett, died Saturday, August 4, 2007, at Rock Ridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. H. Burr Bryant. Visitation: 4:00 ?" 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Darlene Ferguson of Seward, Nebraska, Robert “Bob” Berry of Alburnett, June (Cledith) Smith of Alburnett, Jim (Rita) Berry of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and Allan (Annette) Berry of Alburnett; her brother, Wilbur McAtee of California; twenty grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and twenty great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guy; twelve siblings; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
Claudia was born October 29, 1912, in rural Linn County to Robert and Uva (Washburn) McAtee. She was united in marriage to Guy M. Berry on December 23, 1929. He died in 1962. Claudia worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids over twenty-four years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Alburnett United Methodist Church, the Good Neighbor Club, Luncheon Club and Card Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a fund to be established in Claudia’s memory.
