Claude L. Andrews, 67, of Delhi died at home, December 29, 2008 after a long courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s (ALS) disease.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa. Family will greet friends one hour before services.
Claude was born July 17, 1941 in Toddville, the son of Carl and Neva (Abernathy) Andrews. He grew up in the Center Point area, attending school and helping on the farm. He had 14 brothers and sisters. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Kramer, later divorcing - to this union was born two sons. Claude worked as a machinist and in tool and die at Cherry Burrell and FMC and later at Cascade Die Mold, retiring in 2004. On May 30, 1991, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Meikle-Jerow in Monticello.
Claude loved music and learned to play a guitar at a young age. He played in many area bands over the years. The most well known was Wakefield County Band where he played with three of his cousins. He attended the Congregational Church in Center Point. Everyone who knew Claude loved him. He was always willing to offer a helping hand.
Claude is survived by his wife, Bonnie Andrews; five children, Rodney Andrews of Texas, Rick (Cathy) Andrews of Blairstown, Brenda (Ray) Farrell of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, Jason (Billie) Barth of Hopkinton, and Bernadette (Todd) Kokely of Iron Belt, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren, Ryan, Lexi, Tony, Stephen, Luke, Sam, Stephanie, Jennifer, Jessica and Noah; ten brothers and sisters, Betty (Harold) Erger, Ginger Andrews, Sandra (Howard) Ashlock all of Center Point, Penny (Mike) Krob of Walker, Ronnie Andrews of Hiawatha, Gladyce (Mike) Maas of Cedar Rapids, Danny (Martha) Andrews of Walford, Carl Andrews, Jr. of Louisianna, Lucille Cady of Marion, and Bernice Keyes of Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Neva Andrews, two brothers, Kenny and Kevin Andrews; two sisters, Elaine Sadoris and Eleanor Buker.
Memorials are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
