Clarence J. Spellerberg, 84, a resident of the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, died, Friday, February 11, 2011. Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Monday, February 14, 2011 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Delhi. Conducted by: Rev. John Kramer. Visitation: 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville. Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.



Survivors: wife, Arlene; children, Gary ( Vicki) Spellerberg, Manchester; Eric Spellerberg, Blair, NE; Lisa (Steve) Dircks, Hopkinton, and Lynn (Bob) Gilson, San Antonio, TX. Also surviving: 12 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren; brothers: Matthew and Robert Spellerberg, Fairfax; sisters: Dorothy Schulte, Norway and Antoinette Kloubec, Marion.



Preceded in death by: Parents, son, Brian, great-grand daughter, Drue and two Brothers: Richard and William.



Clarence was born December 9, 1926 in rural Fairfax, the son of Matthew and Lydia (Kulhavy) Spellerberg. He married Arlene Bockenstedt on April 17, 1958 at the Basilica in Dyersville. Following their marriage they settled in Fairfax, moving in the spring of 1964 to a farm in rural Earlville until 1980 where they settled in Delhi, moving to Cottage Grove in Cedar Rapids in 2006. They have lived together at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester since July 2010.



Clarence enjoyed people, fishing, an avid CUBS fan, card player, Hawkeye fan, and he always had a smile.



A memorial fund had been established in Clarence’s memory.
