Clarence R. Lewis, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Christine Wagner-Hecht. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military honors by VFW Post No. 788.

Survivors include his sons, Darwin (Mary Jane) Lewis of Odesa, Texas, John (Maureen) Lewis of Brown City, Michigan, and Richard (Wendy) Lewis of Lancaster, California; a step-son, Robert (Elaine) Miller of Neenah, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and special friends, Linda and Jessie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Irene; three brothers, Richard, Frederick, and John; and two sisters, Nellie and Pauline.

Clarence was born April 16, 1924, the son of Ben and Josie (Reeves) Lewis in Mystic, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII with General Patton’s Forces. On March 27, 1964, he married Marjorie Arthur in Cedar Rapids. She died October 8, 2005. Clarence retired from the City of Cedar Rapids.
