Clarence J. Henderson, 87, of 4710 Westchester Drive N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, in the Hampton Health Care Center, Hampton, Iowa, following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dave King. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo; two daughters, JoAnn Henderson of Santa Anna, California and Tami Jo Borkowski of Iowa Falls; step children, Cheryll (Lynn) Scott of Covington, Iowa and Wendy (Mike) Roster of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jayson, Seth, Cara, Tyler, Jordan and Justin; a great grandchild, Talyn; and one sister, Elenora Dunn of Gilbert, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Henderson; two brothers, George Henderson and Ollie Henderson; and two sisters, Grace Henderson as an infant and Vera Piispanen.
Clarence was born April 3, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Fred and Jenny (Penman) Henderson. He served in the Air Force during World War II completing 23 missions over Germany. On September 14, 1963, he married Cleo (Petersen) Byam in Vinton, Iowa. He retired from FMC.
Clarence attended Oakland Church of the Nazerene and enjoyed traveling and music and watching the History channel on television.
