Clarence H. Eike, 83, of Manchester, Iowa, died Thursday, January 01, 2004, at the Regional Medical Center, Manchester, after a brief illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 3, 2004, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Manchester, with the Rev. Msgr. Ralph Simington officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, with a 3:30 pm Scripture Service, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, and for one hour before services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Manchester.
Clarence was born on April 8, 1920, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Joseph & Clara (Bergfeld) Eike, Jr. He attended school at Xavier Catholic School in Dyersville and helped on his parents? farm. On May 4, 1943, Clarence was united in marriage to Anita C. Venteicher at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester. The couple farmed in the Greeley and Manchester areas. Clarence was also a crop adjuster for Farm Bureau in Manchester. Anita passed away on April 28, 1997.
Clarence was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester. He enjoyed his time with his family, visiting with friends and playing cards.
Clarence is survived by his children and their spouses, Betty & Alfred Kruse of Greeley, Linda, Mrs. Dennis Ruden, of Dubuque, Marge & Rod Haro of Cedar Rapids, and Ed & Pam Eike of Manchester; nine grandchildren, Dave Kruse, Carolyn Olupo, Gayle Barkema, Nancy Griffin, Randy Ruden, Greg Haro, Cindy Haro, Barry Eike, and Brandon Eike; twelve great-grandchildren, Taylor and Brody Kruse, Jeff, Chrissy and Bennett Olupo, Leah, Abby and Brad Barkema, Jack, Savannah and Daniel Griffin, and Parker Haro; a brother and his wife, LaVerne & Agnes Eike of Manchester; a sister-in-law, Darlene Eike of Dyersville; and a special friend, Lois Philipp of Manchester.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Clara Eike, Jr.; his wife, Anita Eike; a sister, Delores Hoeger; a brother, Leo Eike; and a son-in-law, Dennis Ruden.
