Clarence A. Brock, 96, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, died there Thursday, January 16, 2003, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2003 at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Del Bear. Private family committal services will be held at Cedar Crest Cemetery in rural Jesup. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-three years, Leona; a daughter, Marlys Brown and husband William of Marion; three grandchildren, David Brown and his wife Jan of Marion, Julie Knockle and her husband Bret of Cedar Rapids, and Marianne Casas and her husband Jimmy of Bettendorf; and seven great-grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Wesley Brown, Allison Knockle, Karlee Knockle, A.J. Casas, Miraya Casas and Marisa Casas.
He was born the son of Herman and Nettie Rolston Brock on August 4, 1906, in Edgeley, North Dakota. He farmed near Brandon, and on April 9, 1939, he was united in marriage to Leona M. Hepker at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Farming, dairy work, John Deere and Collins Radio were his life work. He retired from Rockwell Collins in 1975. His love of the earth and working it, made him a farmer at heart all his life.
