Clarence "Lefty? Boyle, 89, of 260 27th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, January 11, 2004, at home following an extended illness. Services: 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2004, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Tom McDermott. Friends may call from 4-9, Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife Anna C.; six children, Andrea (Al) Page, Thomas (Connie) Boyle, Terrence (Judy) Boyle, Timothy Boyle, Theresa Howard, and David Boyle, all of Cedar Rapids; a step-brother, Arthur Campbell of Redondo Beach, California; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Thelma Dolley; infant sister, Beulah and a brother, Joseph Boyle.

Clarence was born on June 22, 1914, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Thomas Francis and Christiana Agnes Boyle. He was united into marriage to Anna C. Turner on September 6, 1937, at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He was employed at Quaker Oats for 12 years and a driver salesman for Pepsi Cola for 30 years. Clarence was a member of Knights of Columbus and St. Ludmila?s parish. He took great pride in his family and his Irish heritage. He was a player in the old M&J baseball league, and past scout leader. He enjoyed watching baseball and playing cards.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to the Hospice of Mercy.
