Clara ElizabethWood, 99, a resident of Springville, died peacefully Sunday, June 11, 2006, at her daughter?s home in Springville. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2006, at Springville United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Keizer. Clara donated her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.Arrangements with Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include three daughters, Rachael Dubé of Ashburn, Virginia, Ruth (Daryl) Wurster of Springville and Esther (Earl) Magill of Bandon, Oregon; nine grandchildren, Shelley (Chuck) Hatke of Lafayette, Indiana, Kenneth (Diane) Underwood of Lexington, Kentucky, John (Noreen) Dubé of Ashburn, Virginia, Abby Wiertzema of Phoenix, New York, Terry (Nancy) Wurster of Springville, Don Wurster of Cedar Rapids, Jim (Cindi) Wurster of Springville, Amy (Mark) Hansen of Oxford and Susan (Jeff) Wurster-Schmidt of Marion.
Also surviving are eighteen great-grandchildren, Chad, Lisa, Sara, Kevin, Jill, Ben, Jonathan, Kara, Matt, Brycen, Erica, Matt, Kyle, Nathan, Adrian, Jacob, Zachary and Sydney; seven great-great-grandchildren, Caleb, Tyler, Gavin, Lillian, Gage, Easton and James; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert and two sisters, Eleanor and Esther.
She was born the daughter of Wesley and Emma (Krob) Brosh on February 16, 1907, in Mt. Vernon. On February 24, 1930, in Marengo, she was married to John W. Wood. They later were divorced. Clara worked at many jobs in the Cedar Rapids area, including Cedar Rapids Bus Depot, Donutland and Killians. She was a member of Springville United Methodist Church and Paralta Embroidery Club.
Clara loved her family, going to church, pancake breakfasts, church suppers, driving thru the many Iowa parks and watching the cats and birds.
