Clara Ann Kuhn, 97, of Walker, Iowa, died Friday, January 4, 2008, from a brief battle with cancer. Mass of the Resurrection: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Sacred Heart Church, Walker, by Rev. David Ambrosy. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home, Walker, where a rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker.
Survivors include her children, Eleanor (Walt) Cook of Walker, Louis (Kay) Kuhn of Ft. Myers, Florida, Russell (Marie) Kuhn of Hiawatha, Cecil (Pat) Kuhn of Des Moines, Roger (Bonnie) Kuhn of Carlisle, Iowa, Michael (Kathy) Kuhn of Cascade, Philip (Ginger) Kuhn of Waukee and Diane (Robert) Bousek of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Anna Mae Michael of Hiawatha; sister-in-law, Agnes Michael of Oelwein; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren (with two expected shortly); three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ronald in 1948; her husband, Cecil in 1980; five brothers, Leo Michael, Ted Michael, Father William Michael, John Michael and Louis Michael; three sisters, Mary Winn, Lucille Bohls and Margaret Michael; and one grandchild, Paula Cook in 1981.
Clara was born April 6, 1910, the daughter of William and Catherine (Schmitz) Michael and was raised on a farm near Walker. She married Cecil Kuhn on September 15, 1930.They lived and actively farmed near Walker until 1972 when they moved into the town of Walker.
She was an active church participant to her last days. A person of many talents, Clara sewed her children’s and grandchildren’s clothes. With her quilting and knitting, Clara created many beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. Clara also loved gardening, planting flowers, feeding birds and family or friends gatherings.
Clara was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
