Claire Edward Bowers, 90, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018, at Alice United Methodist Church, Center Point.
Claire was born February 15, 1928, in Center Point, the son of Roy and Anna (Nass) Bowers. He married Bernice Sanborn at Alice United Methodist Church on December 20, 1947. Claire was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed fishing, hunting and his trips to Minnesota. He loved his time spent with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren.
Claire is survived by his children, Gary of Walker, Michael of Center Point, Barbara of Marion; daughter-in-law, Diane; grandchildren, Shane, Kelly, Stacy, Kristen and their families; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Caden, Abby and Collin, Alyse, Soren, Anastasia, Olivia and Alexis; brother, Ralph Bowers of Martelle; and sister, Phyllis Ciha of Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice; son, Jerry; sister, Marjorie; brothers, Paul, Dean and Russell Fay.
