Clair “Bud” A. Mangold, 80, of Ryan, died February 2, 2011 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ryan by Rev. Richard Gaul. Visitation: 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home in Manchester where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary Service and a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional visitation, one hour before services Saturday at the church. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan with Military Honors by the Ryan American Legion Post 692.
Clair was born June 14, 1930 at Ryan, the son of Raymond and Blanche (McEnany) Mangold. Clair served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War from September 1950 thru September 1954. On November 27, 1954, Clair was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kathy” McNamara in Coggon. Clair worked as a machinist for Iowa Manufacturing and farmed near Ryan, IA.
Clair was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Ryan, the Ryan American Legion Post 692. He enjoyed reading and loved playing cards.
Clair is survived by four daughters, Gloria (Ken) VanMilligan of Fairfax, Marie (fiancé, Scott Wilson) Mangold of Seattle, WA, Lori “Syd” Mangold of Ryan, and Deniese (Steve) Jones of Manchester; five grandchildren, Aaron (Misty) VanMilligan, Joy (Tim) Smyth, Caitlyn (Eric) Horn, Austin and Hannah Jones; and six great-grandchildren, Rae, Gunner, Gage, J.T., Shane, and Jason; siblings, Patricia Duggan, , Maxine (Wayne) Stein, Joannie (Walt) Grissom, and Francis Marshall (Betty) Mangold.
Clair was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Mangold in 2008; his parents; siblings, John Earl, James, and Leon Mangold.
