Christine M. Folkins, 91, of 4845 Johnson Avenue N.W., Cedar Rapids, formerly of Center Point, died Sunday, November 6, 2005, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. The family will greet friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, Iowa.
Survivors include her son, Richard (Peggy) Folkins of Altus, Oklahoma; two daughters, Joni (Mal) Vineberg of Walnut Creek, California, and Sandra (Homer) Gartz of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Charles Mader of Center Point; a sister, Mary Kressler also of Center Point; and a special friend, Wayne Osborn and family of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Louis, who died September 14, 1987, in Vinton.
Christine was born June 19, 1914, the daughter of Paul and Inez (Cumberland) Mader in rural Benton County. On February 12, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Louis Folkins. She was employed as a cook and a clerk. Christine was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and a member of Eastern Star. She was a person who loved people, was very social, and enjoyed cooking and having a good time.
A memorial fund has been established with Hope Lutheran Church, 2736 Bowling Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404, in Christine?s memory.
