Cheryl Ann Garringer, 45, of 2788 11th Ave., died Sunday, January 6, 2008, at her home, surrounded by family and friends, following a seven year courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Bill Harnish. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Calvary, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Stacey; four daughters, Jennifer Gage and husband Kolin of Cedar Rapids, Nichole, Erin, and Sarah Garringer, all of Marion; her father, Roy Shelton and wife Linda; her mother, Lydia Pash and husband Michael; her mother-in-law, Marlene Garringer; her brothers and sisters, Karen Bowen and husband Tim, Lonnie Shelton, Roy “Bubbles” Shelton, Jr., Sandy Novotny and husband Jeremy, Robert Shelton and her step-sister, Kim Clark, and all of their families.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Carl and Cecile Cross; her father-in-law, Marv Garringer; and a beloved nephew, Christopher Garringer.

Cheryl was born September 1, 1962, the daughter of Roy and Lydia (Cross) Shelton in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Springville High School in 1980. She married Stacey Garringer on December 20, 1980. Cheryl most recently worked at U.S. Cellular as a customer service representative.

Cheryl loved her family and her girls. She enjoyed arts and crafts, camping and spending time with family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses at Oncology Associates and fifth floor nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital.

A memorial fund has been established in Cheryl’s memory.
