Cherrie Thompson, 53, of Hiawatha, died Friday, January 16, 2015, in her home surrounded by her family. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the funeral home.
Survivors include her parents, Chuck and Barb Harrison of Hiawatha; sons, Adam Thompson and Eric (April) Thompson all of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Tristan Thompson; siblings, Steve (Theresa) Harrison of Cedar Rapids, Christopher (Lorie) Harrison of Mission, Texas, and Christina Harrison of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Scamp.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clyde and Opal Harrison and Harold and Ellanora Bond.
Cherrie was born on August 6, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Charles C. and Barb (Bond) Harrison. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1979 and attended college at Kirkwood Community College. In high school she was in the band. Cherrie worked for Peoples Bank, Square D. Credit Union, Kohl’s Department Store and Kirkwood. Most recently she worked at U.S. Cellular. She was a past member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Cherrie was active in her children’s activities and their school. She was a member of the Police Wife’s Auxiliary and the Birthday Club. Cherrie collected pig figurines. She enjoyed traveling and had gone to Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
