Cherie Roxane McDowell, 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed Saturday, December 28, 2024. Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 with the visitation to begin at 11 a.m. at Progressive Baptist Church, 1302 E 12th Street, Davenport, Iowa 52803. Repass will immediately follow the service.

Cherie was born August 7, 1960, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Leroy and Eva (McQuay) McDowell. She was a beloved mother who poured her heart into her children, always invested in their lives with unwavering love and devotion. Known for her amazing sense of humor and gift for conversation, she brought joy and connection to those around her. Cherie was admired as the strongest woman many knew, a testament to her resilience and faith in God, which she never lost. A true “girls’ girl,” she had a passion for shopping, with a particular love for shoes, rings, and jewelry. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she selflessly gave to anyone in need, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion.

Left to honor her legacy are her spouse, Judge L. Hare; mother, Eva McDowell; children, Sedrick McDowell, Farren Hare, Jerica Hare, Tiana Hare, and Judge Hare IV; grandchildren, Mehkia McDowell, Cadence McDowell, Jazeylia Hare, Myrical Redmond, and Anthony Matthews; Laticia “Tinkerbell”; siblings, James King, Ronald McDowell, Charles McDowell, Randy McDowell, and Anita McDowell; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy McDowell; son, Judge “JD” Hare III; and granddaughter, Shaniia McDowell.
