Charlotte Jeanette Rowray

Charlotte Jeanette Rowray, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at her home in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will take place from 4 - 6 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2019, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. A private burial will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Charlotte was born August 9, 1937, in Norway, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Verda (Oftedahl) Meyer. She married Jack Rowray on January 25, 1955. They were married 56 years and later divorced. Charlotte was a seamstress and used her talents in many ways over the years. She worked as a gift shop manager, a seamstress owning Charlotte’s Sewing Service and Charlotte’s Ceramics, and doing draperies for Armstrong’s, Smulekoffs, Dean Stegman Draperies, and other area businesses. She retired in November of 2018.
Charlotte enjoyed anything crafty and was very talented. She also enjoyed gardening and shopping. Charlotte loved spending time with her family, friends, and dogs.
Charlotte is survived by Jack Rowray of Fairfax, Iowa; daughter, Debra Wellington of Cedar Rapids; sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) Rowray of Albany, Oregon and Jerry Rowray of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Teresa (Tim) Jamison of Lisbon, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; best friend, Lora Crawford of Cedar Rapids; and dogs, Maria and Joey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Verda Meyer; brother, David Meyer, and sister, Karen Meyer.
