Charlotte Louise Johnson, 84, of 233 22nd Street N.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, February 13, 2009, in her home following a long illness. Services: 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Nick Longworth. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Manfred; children, Linda (John) Hecklsmiller and Ron (Nancy) Johnson both of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Brian Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Miriam Andes and Phyllis Cram.
Born on October 3, 1924, in Brooklyn, Iowa, Charlotte was the daughter of Edward and Beulah (Wilock) Helm. In 1942, she graduated from Brooklyn High School. She was united in marriage to Manfred Johnson on June 16, 1946, in her parent’s home in Brooklyn, Iowa.
Formerly a member of the Eastern Star, Trinity United Methodist Church and church circles, Bluebird and Campfire Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother, Charlotte also liked to read, work at elections at Cleveland School, worked at Armstrongs and was a good cook and homemaker. Charlotte was a very kind and loving person whose family was very important to her. She was the best wife and a wonderful mom.
