Charline Ellison Scanlan, 95, of Manchester, Iowa, passed from this life into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, in her home of natural causes. Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 14, 2015, at Manchester United Methodist Church, Manchester, Iowa. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Charline is survived by her three children, Harry Scanlan of Bristol, Tennessee, William (Donna) Scanlan and Barbara (Kenneth) Feeney both of Manchester. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Charline was born June 12, 1920, in Millington, Tennessee. Her parents were Dr. Harry L. Ellison and Mabel Clair Ellison. She married Forrest Scanlan on March 12, 1945, at Marble Collegiate Church, New York City. After World War II, Forrest and Charline made their home in Manchester. She was a farm wife, mother and grandmother. She loved sewing, knitting, ceramic painting, and loved to entertain. She was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church where she served in a number of capacities including the United Methodist Women, serving a term as president. She was also active in the Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and U and I Club.
Charline was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest; a son, Forrest Edward; her parents; a sister, Elise Ellison Turley; and brother, Harry C. Ellison.
