Charlie Lovig Lee

Charlie Lovig Lee, 88, of 3505 English Glen, Marion, Iowa, died Friday, February 1, 2008, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following complications of pneumonia. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at First Congregational Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David Hohmann. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service at the church. Private Graveside Service at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his sons, Don (Cheryl) Lee of Omaha, Nebraska, Chuck (Linda) Lee of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Jim (Caryl) Lee of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Lindsay (Lee Zieke) Lee of Decorah; grandsons, Eric Lee of Chicago and Phillip Lee of Des Moines; and his sister, Bernice Hauser and husband Lee of Malcom, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clarice; and four brothers, Thomas, Harold, Ivan and Orville.
On August 5, 1919, in Newburg, Iowa, Charlie was born the son of Ole and Ingeborg (Lovig) Lee. He graduated from Iowa State University with a chemical engineering degree. Charlie served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On December 9, 1945, he married Clarice Iverson on the family farm in rural Marshalltown. She died on April 22, 2006. He was plant manager for Cryovac, moving to Texas in 1973 where they resided until his retirement in 1985 after which they moved back to Iowa.
Charlie was a member of First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids and the Rotary Club. His joys included woodworking, golf and his family.
