Charles E. Stimson, 84, of Manchester, Iowa, died on June 10, 2004 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, after a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Inurnment will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22 at the Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa.
Chuck was born December 25, 1919, the son of Gerald M. & Maree C. (Scott) Stimson in Manchester, Iowa. He graduated from Manchester High School and owned several automobile dealerships in Manchester. He relocated twice to California and Nevada where he was a realtor and owned motels in Lake Tahoe, Nevada where he resided for many years. He retired to Palm Desert, California where he lived many years until he moved back to Manchester due to illness in 1998.
Chuck was united in marriage to Eunese Came of Prarieburg on June 4, 1941. Two daughters were born to this union, Cheree Cannon and Candee Danner. They later divorced. Chuck married Mae Herberger of Dubuque in 1963. Chuck will be remembered as a hard worker. He enjoyed golf, boating on the Mississippi River, fishing and traveling to other countries. He was a member of the Elks Club.
Chuck will be fondly missed by his two daughters, Cheree (Jim) Cannon of Manchester, Iowa, and Candee (Chuck) Danner of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren, Jim Cannon of Manchester, Brenda Duggan, Chris Duggan and Nick Duggan all of Boise, Idaho, and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine (Bruce) Dunlap of Central City, Iowa , and Marilu (Jim) Brunsman of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Eunese and Mae; one brother, Raymond Stimson of Hollister, California; and one grandson Michael Cannon.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of Comfort of Delaware County.
