Charles R. Oxley, 87, of Center Point, died Monday, February 23, 2004, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home, Center Point by Rev. Mike Ellson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.

Survivors include his wife Mary; a daughter, Barbara (Dean) Harger of Germantown, Maryland, a son, Bob (Polly) Oxley of Des Moines; 2 grandchildren, Allison Oxley of Los Angeles, California, Matthew Harger of Germantown; and a sister, Helen Oxley of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clifford R. Oxley and a brother, Marshall Oxley.

Chuck was a born November 10, 1916, the son of Clarence Rhea and Lizzie (Groll) Oxley in Marion, Iowa. He married Mary Doyle on October 1, 1942, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Chuck was a retired funeral director for Murdoch Funeral Homes. He served in the Air Force during WWII in 509 Composite Group. Chuck was a member of the American Legion in Center Point, United Methodist Church in Center Point, Iowa Funeral Directors Association, Charter Member of Center Point Lions, Center Point Fire Department and Charter Member of the Board of Golden Age Housing.
