Charles J. "Chuck? Mrkvicka, 69, of 607 Grant St., died Wednesday, September 21, 2005, at Northbrook Care Center in Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point by J. J. Meyer. Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Walker Cemetery with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Mrkvicka of Walker; a daughter, Carrie Carnahan and husband Bill of Marion; four step-children, Cliff Hendrix and wife Missy of Cedar Rapids, Brenda Doyl and husband Kelly of Walker, Lesa Cornwell and husband Adam of Urbana and Kim Svatos and husband Shane of Wisner, Nebraska; two sisters, Jolene Mrkvicka of Cedar Rapids and Mary Lou Danielson and husband Gary of Urbana; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill and Jerry Mrkvicka.
Chuck was born June 4, 1936, the son of Joseph and Winigene (Bennett) Mrkvicka in Walker. On March 29, 1985, he married Frances J. "Janie? Adams. Chuck served with the U.S. Navy from 1954 - 1967. He worked for Iowa Manufacturing for eighteen years. Chuck was a member of American Legion Ray Post No. 376 of Walker, he was the first Fire Chief of Troy Mills, volunteer on the Walker Fire Department, and was a volunteer police officer in Northern Linn County for many years.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Ray Post No. 376 of Walker.
