Charles M. Monnahan, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Meadowview in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Military rites will be held. Visitation will begin one hour prior at the church. Fr. Greg Bahl will officiate. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Charles was born on February 17, 1947, in Edgewood, Iowa, the son of Francis and Marie (Berns) Monnahan. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam. On May 3, 1969, Charles was united in marriage to Elaine Kilpatrick at St. Patrick’s Church in Cedar Rapids. He worked at FMC, St. Patrick’s School, Pospisil Painting. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the VFW. Charles enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting, fishing, playing cards and chess. He especially enjoyed their winters in Texas. Above all, Charles loved his family. He was a loving husband, father and awesome grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Monnahan of Cedar Rapids; children, Charles A. (Jill) Monnahan of Cedar Rapids, Shannon (Bill) Daley of Bettendorf, Iowa, Sherry Monnahan of Clinton, Iowa, and Scott Monnahan of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Myles, Ashley, Mark, Mariah, Stacia, Malcom, and Marissa; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Barbara (Kenny) Pospisil of Marion and Donna (Gary) Albaugh of Cedar Rapids.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
