Charles Leonard Michalek, 84, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa, died there Monday, May 25, 2009. Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Charlene (William) Neville of Cedar Rapids and Janice (Michael) Barber of Kingman, Arizona; three grandchildren, Sara (Matthew) Voss, Nathaniel and James Primrose; and three great grandchildren, Eva and LilyAnn Hunt and Wyatt Voss.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Madonna Ann Donohoe; and second wife, Madonna Rose Randall.
Born July 16, 1924, in Swisher, Iowa, Charles was the son of Charles and Blanche (Dlouhy) Michalek. For 44 years he worked for Quaker Oats and he also farmed in the Swisher area for over 35 years.
