Charles James Hennessey

Charles James Hennessey, also known as “Chuck” or “Jim” passed away at his home peacefully with his family December 5, 2023, at the age of 82. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Charles was Born on August 8, 1941, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of Charles William and Evamae Ilena Herrin Hennessey. He married Leila Ann Schulte on November 1, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Chuck was a union painter for Pospisil Painting Local 447 for many years until he retired in 1998.
He enjoyed going to the casinos to play the slot machines. He was also a big bingo player where he made several friends including his good buddy, John. Chuck took pride in taking care of his stepson, David. He held a big place in his heart. His daughter Tammy and him had a special bond that was unbreakable.
Charles is survived by his wife of 43 years, Leila Leiss-Hennessey; stepson, David Schulte; daughter, Tammy (Dan) Prohaska; three grandkids, Damien, Alyssa, and Lexi; and one great grandson, Brooks. Charles is also survived by sisters, Linda Chappell, Pat Draper, Barb Dunham, and Tina Donelson; and surviving brothers, David Hennessey and Terry Beddingfield.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Don Hennessey, Butch Beddingfield, and Ronnie Beddingfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service for burial arrangements and final burial expenses in Chuck’s honor.
