Charles “Chuck” C. Harrison, 72, of Hiawatha, Iowa, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Homer & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Kay Slocum. Burial: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids. The family requests you please dress casual.
Survivors include his wife, Barb of Cedar Rapids; children, Steve (Theresa) Harrison and Christina Harrison, both of Cedar Rapids and Chris (Lori) Harrison of Mission, Texas; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Kay (Pat) Frank of Robins, Iowa and Sue Ann Person of Cedar Rapids; brother, Thomas Lee (Charlene) Harrison; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cherrie Thompson; and brother-in-law, Robert Person.
Charles was born on February 3, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Clyde and Opal (Billman) Harrison. He attended Jefferson High School. He was a hired farm hand before entering the United States Army serving in Germany and France. Upon his return to Cedar Rapids he worked at a service station, Quaker Oats, Iowa Manufacturing, City of New Sharon as a night marshal, Link Belt Speeder, FMC, Rockwell Goss and finally for Terex. He also owned CBS Upholstery for eight years. On May 25, 1960, Charles married Barbara Ann Bond in Marion, Iowa. Charles was the past president for the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed playing men’s softball in his younger days, bowling for Fraternal Order of Eagles, boating and fishing. He also loved attending Harrison family reunions.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hiawatha Fire Department.
