It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Martin Frisbie on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. He achieved the age of 80 and four months. Charles and his family fought cancer courageously for two years. Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. His final resting place will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Charles was born in Iowa City on October 27, 1940, to Harry Sayre and Esther Effinell (Hoover) Frisbie. He went to school in DeWitt and Davenport and graduated from high school in Toledo, Iowa. After graduation, Charles went to work at Collins Radio. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1963; Charles took training at Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Sill, and Fort Benning Jump School. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division; in 1965-1966 he served two tours to the Dominican Republic, and in 1966 he returned to Collins Radio. Charles married the love of his life, Janice Walbaum, on July 7, 1966, and shared 53 years and seven months together. They had one son, Brian. Chuck, Jan, and Brian spent many hours together boating, fishing, traveling, and loving each other. He will be loved and missed.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; son, Brian; sister, Jeanie Leiker; brothers, Glen (Esther), Ray (Pat); sister-in-law, Melodie (Greg) McLean; brothers-in-law, Rich and Todd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
